Before I started tackling this clients closet, we spoke about what they struggled with on a daily basis. "I can't find anything, it's over whelming, it's just too much stuff!". Then I asked what they see when they visualize their organized closet. "Being able to see everything i own, and finding everything fast." So we got to work.
Step 1
Take out everything! I mean it...everything
As i pulled things from her closet one by one, the client would place the item in 1 of 3 piles. Pile 1, everything you love without question or second thought, it's a keeper. Pile 2, time to donate, this includes items that no longer fits you or just wasn't your style to begin with. Pile 3 garbage, this included shoe boxes, and old clothing with holes or stains. Now i want to note that this process could be hard for some and easy for others, that's why you hire an organizer. We can give you questions and solutions to making your decision.
Step 2
If you can hang it...it will be hung
Since my clients request was to be able to see everything, we hung everything that was in bins and and containers. We dedicated the top rack for dresses and blouses which she doesn't wear that often, and the bottom rack was for all her sweaters and jeans she wears often.
Step 3
Shoesssss
For shoes we removed them all from their original boxes (which was taking up so much space) and instead placed them in these shoe storage bins (link below). We used 2 in total, one dedicated to summer sandals and heels the other with boots and sneakers, leaving 1 pair of boots out which she mentioned were her favorite.
Step 4
Enjoy that closet!
